Famous, or should that be
infamous, for its summer racing festival held late July / early August,
Galway is a dual purpose course on the west coast of the country. The right
handed course of one mile and two furlongs, with a steep decline into the
dip where the last two fences are situated. These fences are famous for
being the closest two fences on any racecourse in the world. There is a
sharp incline to the finish line.
For meetings other than the Summer Festival, admission is €15, OAP's and students €10.
For the Summer Festival admission is €20 - €30, with reserved seating available for an extra €20. OAP's and students are, again, €10.
The course is situated 5km outside Galway city and 3km from Galway airport.
Shuttle bus services to Galway city operate during the festival.
